ON THE CONDUCT OF RESISTANCE

These are hard times. In the post-truth reality, whoever screams loudest is the victim. We know we’re right, but we value logic, moral clarity, and dialectics; we know our limitations; therefore, we sink under the barrage of unprincipled, fascist manipulations.

I, like many, see that. I see the little Eichmanns multiply. I see how imperialism has reclaimed the many struggles for its own purpose; I see the well-oiled bourgeois nationalism to nazi insurgency pipeline, in operation since 1917, flourish. I see fascism rear its head.

The temptation is strong to focus on the imperialist hawks and bourgeois influencers, to prove them wrong, but this will only fill our hearts with despair because we’re not strong enough to bring them down. So please think of yourselves; make sure you strategize your truth.

What we need, what we must do right now, is to organize people and create knowledge and art. Constructive action is more valuable, more impactful than destructive. We need not burn ourselves into cinders but collectively build up towards class struggle.

Sometimes I get discouraged because I feel like I could do something way more explosive and impactful right now instead of slowly building and waiting, but this is my political immaturity talking. If I respond to provocations, my demise will become a viable option.

We need to stay alive, strong-willed, full of optimism. There are no sprinters here; we’re in for the long haul. So we clench the teeth, we ignore the nasty buzzing flies, we push through. There are few comforts in this, it chafes your soul to bloody boils, but that’s our struggle.
